Organizations

Considering applying for a Trellis Micro-grant for Organizations? Let’s see if you’re eligible!

  • Are you a registered nonprofit or charitable arts organization with an NEQ number?

  • Do you have a mandate specifically focused on the practice of or support for English language arts? Or, if located outside the Greater Montreal area, do you have arts within your mandate and dedicate at least 15% of your annual budget to the practice of English language arts?

  • Are you committed to outreach, inclusion, and support of Quebec’s English-speaking arts community?

  • Are you carrying out a one-time activity, implementation of which does not require ongoing funding?

  • Are your activities entirely conducted within Quebec, even if some international artists are involved?

  • Do your travel expenses, if any, conform to federal government regulations?

  • Can you clearly explain how your project supports increasing English-language arts community visibility to the broader Quebec community and/or how your project activities will build bridges between the English and French language communities?

If you answered yes to all those questions, it looks like you’re eligible! Hooray! You can submit a Trellis Micro-grant application requesting up to $25,000.00 for your project. Though, if you answered yes to all except the first two questions, it looks like you’d be better suited applying through the Artist portal. Now, here are some tips as you prepare your application:

  • Be sure to include activities that demonstrate a strong probability of promoting English-language arts and artists to a wider community, particularly those that reach out to a Francophone audience.

  • Ascertain your project brings together the English- and French-speaking artists/communities, whether for dialogue, exploratory creative workshops, or production.

  • Ensure the Trellis Micro-grant will increase your visibility as an artist in both fields and broaden your capacity to carry out promotion and outreach going forward.

  • Ensure that your budget demonstrates that the project is viable with the resources you have (including requested funds)

Trellis Micro-grants Organization Application (2026-2027)

The Trellis Micro-grant project, supported by The Department of Canadian Heritage’s Official Languages Support Programs, seeks to highlight English-language Arts and Artists to make them visible to a broader community, and build bridges between Québec’s English-speaking minority and Francophone majority. This application is for projects with expenses from April 2026 to March 2027.

Projects supported will be those that seek to strengthen the English-language community sense of belonging in Quebec, through arts and culture. Projects must seek to increase intra- and inter-community appreciation and provide more opportunities for cooperation. The goal of the funding is the promotion of the English-speaking artistic communities’ contributions to Québec’s development and/or to create more opportunities to bring the English- and French-speaking communities closer together.

Successful applicants will also be expected to provide content for project promotion through ELAN’s social media and newsletters (pictures, short updates on activities etc.), and provide a short final report of activities by May 2027.

To apply as an Organization, you must be a registered non-profit in Quebec and have a listing in the Registre des enterprises. For more information on eligibility, see here.
